There is debate among some Christians about whether or not they can vote for Mitt Romney in good concience. I've heard Christians say it doesn't matter because God controls it all. Those people I'd direct here: Ken Malone- Stand Up
Another reason may be his mormon faith; another may be his not-that-right-of-center way of thinking. While at certain times history has allowed us to be picky, vote in protest, or just speak our minds with our votes, the time for pickyness is over.
Part of what I believe got us in this mess to begin with is that very thing. We didn't know the cost of our pickyness AFTER the primaries in 2008, and it got us Barack Obama. And it has torn our country apart. No, McCain was not the ideal candidate. But with Palin as a VP, he would have been held accountable. We could have been confident in who we are as WE THE PEOPLE in directing our employee, John McCain, what to do.
But instead some revolted in protest at the thought of this seemingly progressive politician taking office. It's understanding, but in hindsight, we didn't understand the cost.
This time, as we see a very similar battle begin to break out, we have to choose. Will we sow our seed on stony ground? Among thorns? Or will we sow into good soil; soil much better than all of the choices we have that can ONLY produce death..?
Mark 4:3-8
3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air[a] came and devoured it. 5 Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. 8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
The Bible uses seeds and growth to teach on being responsible financially, and using your gifts God gave you through His grace. Through His grace, we have the right to vote.
Yes, Mitt Romney is a Mormon. This may create a hard time for some Christians. However, look at his beliefs. Does he profess Jesus? Yes. Look at the fruit of his life. His top aids say he has a personal relationship with God. They say he spends time in prayer. Does he believe in the Bible? Yes. Does he believe in the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Yes.
Yes, the Mormons have their book of Mormon... yes, they have some beliefs that do not line up with the Word of God. But we accept others pretty easily who profess Christ who do not have a personal relationship with Christ, who believe things that are unbiblical, even going against the Bible, but do not do it under a banner of "Mormonism". It is the morals, the ideals, the character we look at. Above all, look at the fruit. ABOVE labels, God looks at the heart. He is a man of his faith, and THAT WILL keep him accountable. At this point, we have to look at the positives because obviously the race is at a point where its either someone who professes Jesus and has GOOD fruit to show for it,----or someone who professes Jesus (whose pastor of 20+ years says Jesus was Muslim and preaches Yawheh IS the same as Allah) and has produced BAD fruit. (Link: Jeremiah Wright says Allah and Yahweh are the same) .
“Mitt Romney. You may not agree with his faith, but it plays a huge role. It’s why I can vouch for the man’s character, because I know he prays on his knees. I know his wife. He is a man of good character. I don’t necessarily agree with him, but he’s a man of good character. Now, what else can we do? Can we get somebody, anybody who’s a little more small government conservative.” -Glenn Beck
Yes, Mitt Romney isn't as conservative as we'd like him to be. He has some history we'd like him to not repeat. But as Glenn Beck has so eloquently stated, "At least he's not a communist."
Many went along with the RNC's push that he was the only "electable" candidate. That's far from true, but this struck fear into many, and it showed in the polls. It was an RNC-fulfilled "prophecy" if you will.
People bought into it even though he wasn't the most desirable. And now we're stuck. But if we show up on election day, and vote in a conservative congress as well, and REMEMBER our duty as citizens is to NOT leave the President and the government to its business, that we are ACTIVE employers, I believe we will see Romney rise to the occasion. I believe with ALL MY HEART he knows the ugency of this hour. I can see it in his eyes.
I was one of the ones that used to say, "Romney is as bad as Obama." I realized I was just being dramatic because I wasn't getting my way. I did my research, and am happy to say, HE IS NOT OBAMA.
I think we're all going through a little PTSD and we're afraid. But voting third party for someone who CANNOT win in THIS election is NOT being a good steward of your vote. Yes, pray. Yes, be led by the Holy Spirit. But God also gives us choices. God KNOWS every single reservation you have about this man. He KNOWS the ugency. And I can tell you, a vote for righteousness is pleasing in the sight of God. Voting for anyone else is sowing your PRECIOUS seed into THORNS, into stony ground. That seed will NEVER see the light of day. I believe this election (combined with the memory of 2008) will change how we vote FOREVER.
If you aren't ANGRY about what Obama has done to this country and while in office, it's because you simply don't know what he's done. You might not be "feeling" a lot of it yet, but you will. There is SO much at stake. Our jobs, our businesses, our freedom of speech, our right to bear arms, parental rights, our right to choose what to eat and our ability to choose what is healthy, our healthcare is at stake (it will be unattainable under Obamacare), our right to live. Our abilities as Christians to FEED people in need- yes, that is happening. This isn't some conspiracy theory, this is what is happening now. But the point of this post isn't to cause mass hysteria, or even to talk about what Obama's done or what he's planning. The point is, you have a choice. Life or death? Where will your seed go?
So continue to research what Obama has done to our country. And let that fuel you to vote for Romney; to sow your seed into good soil; to see this reign of pride and intentional destruction come to an end.
"Our relationship with our maker, however, depends on none of that. It is entirely in our control, for he is always at the door, and knocks for us. Our worldly successes cannot be guaranteed, but our ability to achieve spiritual success is entirely up to us, thanks to the grace of God. The best advice I know is to give those worldly things your best but never your all — reserve the ultimate hope for the only one who can grant it.” --Mitt Romney
Update: I recently found out that Jay Sekulow is advising Mitt Romney. Jay Sekulow is a Christian attorney who founded the ACLJ who fights in the trenches for Biblical and concervative values. This is huge in my mind because with an advisor like Jay, among many other things, it's pretty absurd for anyone to say, "Romney's no better than Obama!"
You can read more about him here: (Although I'm sure most Christians know who he is). ACLJ.org- Jay Sekulow
I first read about this information on the blog of Skyler Woods, a young Christian concervative: Thoughts of a Conservative Teen
And Here's the Politico article with the quotes from Jay Sekulow on one of his meetings with Romney: Politico

"There's more to voting than getting your way all the time." After watching this clip, I heard that phrase. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jKgqsBJees
